An Announcement from the Editorial Office of ChJAA

As a result of recent discussions among the editors and some board members, ChJAA will encourage comments on all the papers published in ChJAA and will take the process of peer review and communicate with the original author or authors for possible reply, following many leading journals, e.g., JGR or ApJ. This is a policy which has been set up at the beginning of ChJAA and undoubtedly will promote active scientific discussions and communications.

As a decision of the editors, ChJAA will not publish any comments on papers published in other journals, including the Acta Astrophysica Sinica (AcApS) which was stopped 6 years ago and its experience helped the birth of ChJAA. We suggest colleagues to directly communicate with the original authors in case they have comments on the papers published in AcApS.

A Letter from Editors-in-Chief

Dear Authors, Readers, Colleagues and Friends,

We have been informed by Dr. Chonka, the Editor of Physical,

Chemical & Earth Sciences of ISI, that our journal, Chinese Journal of

Astronomy and Astrophysics (ChJAA), has been accepted to include in the

Science Citation Index (SCI),  beginning with the first issue of  2005.

We share the good news and great happiness with you.

This is, indeed, a success of Chinese astronomy and astrophysics.

As commended by a colleague from Stanford University,  `it represents that the world, by and by,

acknowledges and values our research in astronomy!' We understand, however, to further

increase the quality and to raise the scientific standard of the journal is

an extremely difficult task. We will work with you for the goal to have the

journal the best astronomy journal in Asia and a well-known good journal

in the world. The journal should work the best to foster good scientific

tradition and creative research groups in Chinese astronomy enterprise.

We expect to continuously receive your strong support to the journal.

Your kind offer of submissions of manuscripts and suggestions to improve the

journal are the guarantee of the success of our ChJAA.

We thank all international colleagues and friends for their kind assistance

and support. We high appreciate and look forward to

close collaboration with international publishers.

Sincerely yours,

Cheng Fang and Jingxiu Wang
